French Style Chests Of Drawers

Wednesday March 17, 2010

You will either love them or hate them. But there is no doubt that the unmistakeable design of the French style chest of drawers is hard to miss.

It’s hard to say exactly what typefies a French style chest of drawers because they are all so different. But the essential style really remains much the same throughout the many different models that are available.

These chests of drawers will all have legs on them, and they may be quite tall as well. Typically speaking they can be anything from a few inches high – acting as no more than feet at this height – or much higher than that. In some cases you could get a stool and sit with your knees tucked underneath the chest of drawers quite comfortably.

Whenever you think of a French style chest of drawers you will think of ornate and stylish designs. These are certainly not plain or dull, so if you are looking for something that will act as a focal point in your bedroom then a French style model would definitely fit the bill.

One of the best things about this kind of chest of drawers is that it is available in lots of different finishes. A look on one website featuring only this style revealed chests of drawers in baby pink, silver, white, green and even black and white checks. As you can see you have no end of choices to think about.

Be prepared to pay more for this style though. Some of them can be very expensive indeed, venturing into four figures in total. Of course you are going to get a top quality piece of furniture at this price and something very exclusive as well. French style chests of drawers are available much cheaper than this though, at around two hundred pounds and upwards typically speaking.

The moral of this tale is that if you like the style and you want this item in your bedroom, you will need to be prepared to pay a bit more for it. Even at its cheapest you are looking at a more expensive item than you find in many more traditional outlets. Look in places such as John Lewis and other department stores for starters, as they often have one or two French style chests you can look at.

One thing is certain though – once it is in place in your bedroom you will be glad you got it.
